Devon
A county of contrasts.

Devon Travel Guide
Devon is a county of contrasts, and that’s very much part of its appeal. With two coastlines to choose from, the rugged north feels wild and dramatic, while the south is gentler, with calmer waters and pretty seaside towns.
Inland, Devon opens up into wide, open landscapes thanks to the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Both are brilliant for walking, exploring and getting a sense of space, either up on the moor or following quieter lanes through small villages.
There’s no shortage of characterful places to visit. Clovelly is one of my favourite places – a steep, car-free fishing village that feels wonderfully old-fashioned. You’ll also find vibrant historic towns like Totnes and Dartmouth, alongside Exeter, which adds a lively city feel to the mix.
And, of course, Devon takes its cream teas seriously. They’re part of everyday life here, I like to think best enjoyed somewhere cosy after a walk or a day by the sea. Perfection.
